Determining factors of information needs: a study of postgraduate colleges of Jalandhar

Abstract

The paper deals with the various determining factors of information needs of the faculty of four different Postgraduate Colleges of Jalandhar with special reference to information seeking behavior of the faculty. The study reveals that information needs of the faculty depend upon various factors such as Designation of faculty, Gender, Qualification, Teaching and Research Experience. Majority of respondents are Male, Postgraduate Assistant Professors with 1-5 Years of teaching experience; and more than 16 years of research experience. The study reveals that majority of respondents visit the library twice a week, using the library facilities for 6 hours per week
